When we use the word "love" we do not simply mean an attraction to a person of the opposite sex which is a very narrow definition of the word Love is emotional strength which can support us no matter how dark the world around us becomes In fact throughout history people of many different cultures have regarded love as the noblest of human emotions

As an example of the power of love we should remember how the Chinese people of all nationalities respond to the call to help the victims of natural disasters every year Although their incomes are still low by international standards people all over the country do not hesitate to donate whatever they can be it money or goods to help their needy fellow citizens Moreover they do this with no thought of gain for themselves

In my opinion the best way to show love is to help people who are more unfortunate than we are We should always be ready to give a helping hand to those who are in trouble no matter whether they are family members or complete strangers In this way we can help to make the world a better place for the darker the shadows of sorrow become the more brightly the lamp of love shines

friendship with oneself is all important, because without it one cannot be friends with anyone else in the world.- eleanor roosevelt

we often focus on building relationships with others that we forget the essential first step: being friends of ourselves. that is the crucial first step if we are to have good relationships with others. how can we have good relationships with others if we don't even have good relationship with ourselves?

the problem might be worse than we expect. maybe we don't like ourselves without realizing it. here is a simple checklist; is there anything you don't like about yourself from these list?

your past

maybe you have made mistakes in the past which you feel bad about. you might be disappointed with yourself on why you could make such mistakes. even if that happened in distant past, your subconscious mind still has a reason not to like yourself.

your background

you might wish that you were born in different family, or that you have different background. maybe you could not accept the fact that you are not as lucky as others, who seem to get whatever they want effortlessly because of their background.

your personality traits

you might have some personality traits that you don't like. for example, you may be an introvert and you don't like it; you wish you are an extrovert.

As is known to all, food is a priority for the common people. Recently, however, reports about food problems have often been seen in the newspapers, showing that people have always been concerned about what they eat every day. The reason for this problem is that some of the food producers are too fond of making money, leading to the result that they use whatever will make the food look good or taste better without considering the bad consequences. This is not normal because people just cannot live without eating anything.

So we should take all the measures necessary to forbid the food producers to make food that is not safe enough. Laws should be strengthened and the government should have more control over these producers. Only when people are no longer worried about whether their food is safe or not can they enjoy a better life.

As the development of the Internet, the traditional way of reading daily news has been challenged, more and more people trend to read news online, while still some people insist on reading it on the newspaper. People argue which is the best way for reading news, in my opinion, there is no best way, different people choose different manner.

Reading news online is fast and paying for free. Most young people get used to it, they use the computer every day, so that they count on the computer to receive the all kinds of information. Reading the newspaper is troublesome, they dont like to hold the paper, it is not convenient.

i teach economics at unlv three times per week. last monday, at the beginning of class, i cheerfully asked my students how their weekend had been. one young man said that his weekend had not been so good. he had his wisdom teeth removed. the young man then proceeded to ask me why i always seemed to be so cheerful.

his question reminded me of something id read somewhere before: every morning when you get up, you have a choice about how you want to approach life that day, i said. i choose to be cheerful.

let me give you an example, i continued, addressing all sixty students in the class. in addition to teaching here at unlv, i also teach out at the community college in henderson, 17 miles down the freeway from where i live.

one day a few weeks ago i drove those 17 miles to henderson. i exited the freeway and turned onto college drive. i only had to drive another quarter mile down the road to the college. but just then my car died. i tried to start it again, but the engine wouldnt turn over. so i put my flashers on, grabbed my books, and marched down the road to the college.

Dear Lucy,

How are you? Im Li Hua, a student attending your class. Im writing to share my thoughts on the possible changes that may happen in my family.

Recently, a policy has been put forward to allow couples to have a second child. Therefore, my parents have decided to take it into consideration. To be honest, I feel unsure about this puzzling situation. Undoubtedly, a new addition to our family will bring us happiness. Keeping a brother or sister company will also develop my sense of responsibility. However, what worries me is whether my parents will begin to ignore me. If so, I will be heart-broken. Would you mind sharing your opinions with me?

Best wishes!

Yours ,

Li Hua
